Overview

Sumbawa University of Technology (UTS) through the UTS Global Ambassador Scholarship (U-GAS) Program enables future leaders from all over the world to channel their potential and connect with the dynamics of Indonesian emerging economic potentials and unique challenges. Utilizing its geographical location, UTS offers students to study and live close to the beautiful nature of Sumbawa Island.

Learning, engaging in unique cultural diversity, and exploring the beautiful nature of Eastern Indonesia can go hand in hand. We encourage our students to engage with the local community to learn about their challenges and work on solutions to help them advance in life through science and technology. We believe that future leaders are those who see the world beyond the common narratives and seek to understand the world comprehensively.

What is U-GAS

U-GAS Program is a competitive full-scholarship program for undergraduate degrees targeting prospective students who aim to be future leaders in their respective fields.

UTS offers highly relevant study programs to the current demand and provides opportunities to closely interact with the realities and challenges of local communities, enabling students to contextualize and practice what they have learned in the classroom in solving real-world problems.

Located in the Sumbawa Island of Lesser Sunda Chains, the campus location is surrounded by beautiful nature; from the wonders of pristine beach and beautiful underwater to the lush tropical jungle. In addition, its rich cultures and diverse ethnic groups and people, provide rich dynamics and challenges to be studied.

General requirements

The applicant should:

Be an international citizen and not a permanent resident or citizen of Indonesia
Be in good health, both physically and mentally, to study at UTS for the full duration of the program
Possess leadership qualities
Have preparation in, and a demonstrated commitment to their chosen field of study
Be proficient in English (proven by TOEFL, TOEIC, or IELTS score). See our website to learn more about English Proficiency Requirements
Be willing to learn Bahasa Indonesia through enrichment activities provided by the university
Have an outstanding academic record
Demonstrate that they can realistically accomplish full-time undergraduate study in Indonesia

An applicant will be ineligible if he or she is:

An employee, close family member of an employee, or dependent of an employee of UTS

Required Documents (to be supplied in English)

Completed application form, including one-page motivation letter that describes applicants’ willingness to pursue the study program at UTS and leadership qualities, and future plan after completion of study
Copy of most recent (less than two years) English Proficiency Test
One letter of reference, either from the school chancellor, teacher, student organization advisor/instructor, or a relevant respected figure that knows your quality. If the original letter is not written in English, the applicant should provide the translation from a sworn translator
Copy of high school academic transcript and diploma (in original language and in English translation)
Copy of valid identity document (National ID or passport)
Copy of awards and other certificates

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship will provide the following benefits:

C316 visa support
Round-trip economy class air travel from scholarship recipient’s home city to UTS in Sumbawa
Funding for tuition and fees, living and related costs such as accommodation, and a monthly stipend
Health insurance coverage per Indonesian Government guidelines

Support is not provided for accompanying dependents.

We have additional study programs available which are not included on the website yet. Those programs are: Natural Resource Conservation (Faculty of Life Science and Technology) and Sustainable Agriculture (Faculty of Agricultural Technology).
